A-England + Konad Stamping Plate M60 + Nail Art Stickers
September 29, 2011
These are my FIRST photos with my new camera, and that camera is AMAZING. I didn't have to search for the perfect lighting or anything like that. I simply took the photos in my kitchen, where I was sitting painting my nails. My old camera would never pick up the kind of sparkle showing in these pics with the lighting in my kitchen. (I do have more manicures I will post later that were taken by my old camera though.). I still have a lot to learn--TONS of settings! And I need to figure out how to position my hand for a good photo. With my old camera, I had to hold the camera close to my hand to get a good photo. With this camera, my hand has to be arms length away for the camera to focus, which makes it hard to see the angle of my nails and position of my fingers on the bottle (I hope you get what I am trying to say here!). It will take some getting used to. This camera was such a great gift from my husband!!!! For those who didn't see my post on Facebook, it is a Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18.0-Megapixel Camera! What do you think of the photos?
This is two coats of A-England Lady of the Lake. This was a recent purchase from http://shop.llarowe.com/. You can also find them on Facebook! llarowe sales glitter gal, A-England, and Ozotic polishes! She is great to work with and has super fast shipping!
Then I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Wet Cement to stamp on a plaid print with Konad Stamping Plate M60! Of course that was not enough, so I added some cute little stickers, which did not last long. I should have used a top coat. They lasted a day. Oh well, it was a good day!

A big ‘Hello!’ to Amy’s Followers!
I am so very appreciative to be able to do a guest post for Amy today. This is my very first time doing a blog post so I reviewed this about a million (+1) times before clicking on the ‘Send’ button.
My name is Kelly, I live in Southern California , and I do not have a blog (Wow, kinda feels like an AA meeting) ;-). However, I do have a Facebook page (facebook.com/KellsDIYnails). Initially, I was posting pictures of my manis on my personal page, but then I got some negative feedback from friends who are not ‘Nail Nuts’. So, to prevent further negativity, I created my Nail page. I’ve only had my page up for a couple of months now, but I am having a blast meeting other ‘Nail Nuts’ and talking all things nails and polish.
I would love to share more, but I want to get to the heart of things… My mani!
One of these is not like the other…
Zoya: Kimmy, Tanzy, and Penny
I ended up choosing all Zoya for this mani. Two of these Zoya’s are from the Sunshine Collection (Kimmy & Tanzy). The odd man out, is Penny. Yes, I know it is officially Autumn, and with all the widespread panic over all the fantastic Fall Collections, why am I still using Summer Collection polishes??? Well, because I was saving Kimmy for a night out and it just so happens I am going out tonight. Kimmy makes for the perfect accessory, She is vibrant, sparkling, and sexy. I used Kimmy as my main color; Tanzy and Penny are her back-up dancers.
Zoya, Kimmy. 2 coats. Out of all of the Sunshine Collection polishes, Kimmy and Reva are the more opaque colors. You can see some VNL in the photo, but it is not as noticeable in real life. The formula is a golden glass-fleck that is thin and jelly-like. Very easy to manipulate on the nail. Zoya also has a great brush. It fans out well on the nail and holds a nice amount of polish. Zoya is definitely one of my favorite polishes. It’s a little on the expensive side ($8), but the quality is superior to other brands in the same price point.
Accent Nail: Using the sponging technique, I sponged Tanzy over Kimmy on about 2/3 of my nail, and then sponged the tip with Penny. Zoya’s Sunshine Collection is great on its own, but the layering options you get with these are a blast to play with; Instead of using a gold glitter in a clear base as a layering option, try Tanzy, Rica, Apple, or Faye. It’s super pretty! If you try it, drop me a line on my Facebook Page at facebook.com/KellsDIYnails and let me know what you think! While you’re there, ‘Like’ my page.
Barielle, Get Mauve-ing with Zoya, Faye on top; Essie, Who’s She Red with Zoya, Rica on top.
It’s been a blast blogging with you today!!!
Nfu Oh NFU 52 + Bling Nail Art
September 27, 2011
Quick post today, because I am in a rush (It is already 8 pm. I have been playing with my new camera all night--trying to figure out the settings. WARNING!!! RANDOM THOUGHT HERE! I love stalking blogs, but I just feel like I follow WAY too many blogs that I can't keep up with the new post. I try to comment on EVERYONE'S blog just to let them know I visited and appreciate their blog. It is getting to be overwhelming. I guess I am going to start commenting on random blogs every night instead of EVERY blog. Does anyone else feel like this?) .
This is an old manicure, but I really like it! This is two coats of Nfu Oh 52 by itself (no base color). It is somewhat shear on its own, but nothing where I am like "I need a base coat". The camera does pick up more bald spots on the nail that you do not see in person.
Then I trimmed some "bling nail art stickers" I bought at Sally Beauty Supply to fit my nail. Gotta go! See you soon!
Kleancolor Metallics and Konad Stamping Plates Experiment
September 25, 2011
From L to R: Kleancolor Metallic Pink, Kleancolor Metallic Purple, Kleancolor Metallic Yellow, Kleancolor Metallic Brown, Kleancolor Metallic Navy, and Kleancolor Metallic Jungle
My very first special request!!!!!! Kejal from NailArt and Things asked me to do a little experiment to see how good the Kleancolor Metallics I owned were at stamping. She was looking at buying some. I have to say all six that I own are GREAT for stamping!
To demonstrate I just stamped two designs with each color on a piece of white paper. Please click to enlarge the photos! You can see the polish shows every detail of the stamp. I am concerned about the Metallic Yellow (which is really a gold polish in my opinion), but if you choose the right base color, you should be fine!
I have used the Kleancolor Metallic Pink for stamping before. Click here to see that post.
I have used the Kleancolor Metallic Brown for stamping before. Click here to see that post.
P.S I guess I should have cleaned the plate a little better between the navy and yellow polish haha!
Cult Nails Awakening + Cult Nails Hypnotize Me + OPI Crown Me Already
September 23, 2011
I have been playing with my Cult Nails polishes again! Today I have for you Cult Nails Awakening and Cult Nails Hypnotize Me. First up is Awakening by itself. This is three coats. This polish is AMAZING! This is three coats! I absolutely LOVE this color!
Before I forget I wanted to add that Cult Nails polish dries really fast!
Then I added one coat of Cult Nails Hypnotize Me over Cult Nails Awakening. Hypnotize Me has a green tinted base with some green and blue glitter mixed into it! I really like this combination, and I can't wait to try it over other colors like in the grey or black family!
Because I think Cult Nails Awakening is so amazing and in my opinion is a jelly polish?, I had to use it as the main polish in a jelly sandwich manicure. This is two coats of Cult Nails Awakening, followed by one coat of OPI Crown Me Already, followed by a final coat of Cult Nails Awakening. No top coat! Isn't this just AMAZING?
You can order Cult Nails Polishes from http://cultnails.com/
And find them on Facebook HERE
